About Gratitude

Do you take time to appreciate the blessings that you enjoy in your life? Know more about the importance of gratitude.

Gratitude is a virtue of being grateful or thankful to reciprocate the kind deeds or kind words from someone. It is all about valuing others and valuing the good things that we already have in life. Whether it is money, power or anything else we always want to have more. However, we forget to be grateful for what we have.

In the race to forcefully achieve more, we forget what we have is much more than what we want. Such things give rise to pain and suffering. So, it is very important to be grateful and express gratitude to be happy and satisfied in life. But it does not mean that one should not dream of achieving something in life. Expressing gratitude and being thankful in life can bring us closer to our dreams and aspirations.

Now let us take a look at the dimensions of gratitude and the ways to express gratitude.

The 3 Dimensions of Gratitude

The three important dimensions of gratitude are as follows:
  1. Dispositional Gratitude - It is about seeing good in everything and appreciating everything that we have.

  2. Collective Gratitude - It is about being grateful for good things that happen to everyone as a group.

  3. Relational Gratitude – It is about being grateful for the good traits in the one’s we have close relationships with.

Many individuals come into our life. Their guidance, teachings and kind deeds prove to be a cornerstone in our lives. Many individuals just come and completely change our life and some also teach us important life lessons. Nothing can replace what they do for us. Such people include different individuals like our teachers, friends, siblings, grandparents, maids, helpers, servants, colleagues, etc. So, we should never forget such people who help to shape our lives and always be grateful to them and appreciate their work. At the same time, we must also appreciate the other beautiful things in our life which we are fortunate enough to receive through the kind deeds of others in our life.
